What is performance research?

Performance research is the rigorous investigation of performance technique with the goal of expanding performative possibilities in concrete ways. The word "research" here indicates that a practice is organized according to the criteria of knowledge production - that is, the discovery of what is objectively new.

Urban Research Theater is committed to ongoing practical research in several areas of song, movement, text, rhythm, and action. This research is constantly evolving according to the interests and needs of those involved. It is the essential basis of all our performative and pedagogical work.
